Method
 

Preparation
  1. Caramelize onions in olive oil over medium heat for 20–25 minutes until golden brown.
  2. In a bowl, combine the ground beef (or turkey), breadcrumbs, cheese, egg, garlic powder, thyme, salt, pepper, and cooled onions; mix well.
Baking
  1. Form the mixture into a loaf and place it on a lined baking sheet or in a loaf pan.
  2. Bake in a preheated oven at 375°F (190°C) for 50–60 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 160°F (71°C).
Serving
  1. Let the meatloaf rest for 5–10 minutes before slicing to lock in the juices.
  2. Serve warm and enjoy!

Notes

Make sure to cool the caramelized onions before mixing them with the meat. For added flavor, use fresh herbs. Consider adding minced jalapeños or red pepper flakes for a spicy kick. To store leftovers, wrap tightly and refrigerate for up to 4 days, or freeze for up to 3 months.
