  • 1.5 pounds ground beef
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1 piece egg
  • 1/4 cup chopped onion
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
Glaze Ingredients
  • 1/4 cup ketchup
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a large bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, milk, egg, chopped onion, salt, and pepper.
  3. Mix gently until just combined, being careful not to overwork the mixture.
  4. Shape it into a loaf and place it in a baking dish.
Adding Glaze and Baking
  1. In a small bowl, whisk together ketchup, brown sugar, and Worcestershire sauce to make the glaze.
  2. Spread half of the glaze evenly over the meatloaf and bake for 45 minutes.
Finishing Touches
  1. Remove from the oven, top with the remaining glaze, and bake another 15 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 160°F (71°C).
  2. Let the meatloaf rest for 10 minutes before slicing and serving.

Notes

For extra moisture, consider adding grated vegetables like carrots or zucchini. For different flavors, experiment with different types of meat such as ground turkey or sausage and use fresh herbs like parsley or thyme.
