Method
Preparation
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a large bowl, combine ground sirloin, breadcrumbs, Worcestershire sauce, egg, salt, black pepper, onion flakes, and Montreal steak seasoning. Mix until well combined.
- Shape the mixture into a loaf and place it in a greased baking dish or on a lined baking sheet.
Cooking
- Bake for about 1 hour, or until the internal temperature reaches 160°F (70°C). Let rest briefly before slicing and serving.
Gravy Preparation
- While the meatloaf is baking, melt the butter in a saucepan over medium heat.
- Add the flour and stir continuously for about 1 minute to form a roux.
- Gradually pour in the beef broth while whisking to prevent lumps.
- Add soy sauce and garlic powder. Continue to cook until the gravy thickens, about 5-7 minutes. If it gets too thick, add a little more broth or water.
Notes
Make sure not to overmix the meatloaf for a tender texture. Add grated vegetables like carrots or zucchini to enhance flavor. For a sweeter sauce, add ketchup or brown sugar to the gravy. Store leftovers in airtight containers; lasts for up to 3 days in the fridge.
